Radiophonist Course

With the Radio Operator course you will obtain the necessary certificate to be able to communicate with airport control towers, when flying in controlled airspace, as well as to communicate with other aircraft.

INTRODUCTION:

The Drone Pilot Radio operator course is taught in classroom mode.

ADAPTED COURSE ACCORDING TO NEW R.D. 1036/2017 of December 15, 2017.

ACCREDITATION:

Radio operator certification is mandatory to operate drones in controlled airspace.

OBJECTIVE:

With the Radio Operator course you will obtain the necessary certificate to be able to communicate with airport control towers, when flying in controlled airspace, as well as to communicate with other aircraft.

  1. AIRSPACE CLASSIFICATION AND AIR TRAFFIC SERVICES.

1.1. To know the types of airspace and the services to be provided.

  • Air Regulations and RCA. AFS Services, etc. RMZ airspace zones and

TMZ. ATIS. Unlawful interference and emergency.

1.2. To know the structure and operation of information and air traffic services.

  • AIP. Aeronautical Field Service. Air Traffic Service. Units that provide services.
  1. PRINCIPLES OF RADIOTELEPHONY AND COMMUNICATIONS.

2.1. Define and know the characteristics of waves and wave transmission.

  • Radio waves. Characteristics of radio waves. Different types of waves. Wave distribution. Propagation in space. Phenomena that can affect radio waves.

2.2. Identify the frequency bands and know their main characteristics.

  • Aeronautical frequency bands.

2.3. Identify and know the types of waves. Radio waves. Ground waves.

  • Celestial waves.

2.4. To know the characteristics and use of the VHF frequency band.

  • VHF properties. Use of the VHF band. Propagation. Limitations.

2.5. To know and identify the main components of a radio transmission.

3.5. To know the different types of airfields and the types of transmissions used in each of them.

4.1. Describe and explain the most frequent and necessary exit procedures.

  • Radio check. Shooting instructions. Exit authorization.

4.2. Describe and explain en route procedures.

  • Flight information services. Weather information services. Obtaining in-flight information. Information messages.

4.3. Describe and explain arrival procedures and traffic circuit.

  • Arrival procedures. Communications in the transit circuit. Approach, landing and runway release communications.

4.4. Describe and explain the procedures in case of radio failure.

Juan Serrano
